Can I resume my maiden name after divorce through Massachusetts divorce mediation?

Updated: Jun 15, 2018

Yes and it is very easy to resume your maiden name through Massachusetts divorce mediation. You can request to resume your maiden name on the Complaint for Divorce or Joint Petition for Divorce at the time you file with the Massachusetts Probate and Family Court. It does not cost any extra money to request to resume your maiden name.

Your name change will be reflected on a court document referred to as "Findings and Order" which is mailed to you by the court after your divorce hearing. You will use this document to obtain a new driver's license, change over bank accounts and for social security purposes. Your request to resume your maiden name can be arranged through your Massachusetts divorce mediator. www.jrkaplanlaw.com
